WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam of Taking on a World of Words. It’s a fun midweek reading update that asks you to answer three questions:

– What are you currently reading?
– What did you recently finish reading?
– What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I’m nearly finished with The Thousand Eyes! This is a sequel to The Unspoken Name, one of my favourite reads from last year. It has some of the most inventive worldbuilding I’ve seen in a long time. I especially love how the setting is a series of worlds connected by portals. If you love weird, powerful gods in fantasy, this is a series you absolutely have to pick up. A.K. Larkwood is not afraid of making dramatic twists in the narrative and I’ve constantly been shocked by how the plot has played out. I’m definitely going to have to finish this one today because I can’t wait any longer to see what’s going to happen.

The last book I read was Chouette, this was an amazing and strange read about a mother who knows she’s going to give birth to an Owl-baby, no one believes her, but when she gives birth the Chouette she knows she’ll fight to let her live exactly as she is. Meanwhile, her husband desperately wants a normal baby and will do anything to shape their child into one. It’s a story about motherhood and disability. I’d recommend it to people who love strange, literary reads that are steeped in metaphor and deeply emotional. I had a fantastic time reading it.

I’m going to read Crier’s War next! I wanted to pick up a young adult fantasy because I’ve read a lot of heavy or detailed books recently and this one looks amazing. I’ve heard so many great things about the sapphic enemies-to-lovers relationship in Crier’s War, so I can’t wait to start.
