Hello everyone! Today I’m doing the Fall Time, Cozy Time Book Tag. I really wanted to get this done while it was still somewhat autumn. It’s definitely getting a lot colder here though, winter will be here soon!
I’m going to miss autumn because it’s my favourite season. I mean, Halloween, my birthday, cozy times, crunchy orange leaves, and warm drinks? It’s the best.
Thanks so much to Lilly’s Little Library for tagging me on this!
Crunching Leaves: The World is full of colour! Choose a book with red/orange/yellow on the cover.

I’m picking Dark and Deepest Red by Anna-Marie McLemore for this one! Not only does it have an autumnal cover, but it also has red in the name, so I feel like I deserve extra points. This book is also amazing; I know I’m always gushing about their writing by it’s so lovely! It tells a duel timeline story about the dancing plague that struck Strasbourg. I can’t believe that was a real event! It’s also a diverse book with Romani, Latinx, and trans characters!
Cozy Sweater: It’s finally cool enough for warm cozy clothing! What book gives you the warm fuzzies?

The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet is honestly one of the most heartwarming books I’ve ever read. It’s very slow, basically plotless, and focuses solely around the crew of a spaceship during a long voyage. The characters are wonderful, and the friendships that build between them is so genuine. It’s not like everyone gets along all the time, but they’re a family.
Fall Storm: The wing is howling & the rain is pounding. Choose a book that you like to read on a stormy day.

I think there’s two ways I like to go when it’s horrible weather outside. Either I want to read something upbeat and lighthearted, or I want to dig straight into a horror. Gothic horror is one of the best things to read during a storm because bad weather is so often a feature. I absolutely adore Mexican Gothic, and a creepy, foggy, cold, Victorian house is the perfect setting to be transported to in a storm. Who need ambient sound when there’s rain pouring down?
Cool Crisp Air: Makes you breathe freely – Who’s the coolest character you’d want to trade places with?

I struggled with this question! The main thing is… I wouldn’t want to swap places with many characters because they’re all in stressful situations. I don’t have the energy to save the world! So I pick Cye, whose one of the anti-fascism librarians in Upright Women Wanted. I don’t think there’s anything cooler than a group of anti-fascist lesbian librarian spies, and I want in.
Hot Apple Cider: Warm autumn drink. What underhyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing?

I’m surprised people aren’t talking more about Dangerous Remedy! It’s such a great book! Set in revolutionary France we follow a group of people who break prisoners out just before they’re executed via guillotine. It’s a found family where everyone’s got issues, they spat and fight and are almost torn apart. Delicious drama! Plus, it’s got an established sapphic couple! Also, magic! And betrayals! And heists! More hype please!
Coat, Scarves & Mittens: The weather has turned cold & it’s time to cover up! What’s a book cover you don’t like?

I specifically don’t like this cover of Foundryside. Mostly because it’s the only one available in the UK at the moment if I don’t want to spend ridiculous amounts of money. It’s not like it’s the most awful thing, but it’s so drab and boring! And look at what the U.S. get!!

Look at how beautiful that is! I deserve the right to the good book cover! Give me the pretty one or I will forever be grumpy!
Pumpkin Spice: Time for Some Starbucks! What’s your favourite fall comfort food?
I’m going to sound very English right now, but I love eating sausage and mash when it’s autumn. You just gotta have that warm carby goodness sometimes. Obviously I love all the cinnamon and pumpkin spice things out there, but with everything being shut down I’ve developed a passionate love for potato.
Warm, Cozy Bonfire: spread the cozy warmth! Who do you tag?
Hope you don’t mind me tagging you! Obviously no pressure to do this if you don’t want to 🙂
